Shane D. Inman

Shane Inman is senior principal designer and president of The Inman Company, a residential and commercial interior design firm located in the Gold Coast of Chicago, Illinois. Shane is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he received a BA in interior design.

After graduation, Shane launched his career in San Francisco, where he began his specialization in custom kitchen and bathroom design. That eventually led to a five-year partnership with a prominent Fortune 500 company and positions as director of design, on-site designer, project manager and senior interior designer. It was in this capacity that he designed interiors for private residences in Miami, Miami Beach and Key West Florida. Soon afterward, his expanding expertise in export services allowed him to include projects in Turks and Caicos, the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico. Shane was also a creative consultant to the Miami City Ballet, Southern Florida's largest non-profit organization, where he planned several highly visible events and galas. He later served as a goodwill ambassador to Africa as a micro-economic business advisor with the United States Peace Corps, teaching English and AutoCAD.

Under Shane's leadership, The Inman Company is committed to raising the standard of business to incorporate the highest-quality customer service with unwavering excellence in design. Shane also provides real estate staging, consulting, event design and organizational services to his clients. He takes pride in giving back to the community by being involved in many pro-bono projects, such as the 2007 Traverse Symphony Orchestra Ball, where The Inman Company acted as lead sponsor and event designer; the 2007 Traverse City Film Festival, where The Inman Company acted as event designer for acclaimed film director Michael Moore; and the 2007 Ugly Kitchen Contest, where The Inman Company awarded a free $35,000 custom kitchen to the winner. Shane is also a past adjunct professor at his alma mater for the School of Planning, Design & Construction.

As a former columnist for the Michigan Home Resource Guide, a quarterly statewide publication, Shane educated and advised consumers about the importance of interior design in the building/renovation process. He has also been a guest writer for TAAR (Traverse Area Association of Realtors) and the Traverse City Record-Eagle as well as a regular guest on the 106.7 YOU-FM. Shane is a blogger for the Chicago Tribune at ChicagoNow.com (ìThe Interior Design Savantî) and is a featured designer on HGTV.com, where his complete portfolio can be viewed. Currently, he is a contributing author for the renowned Sheridan Road magazine, whose readership includes residents of Chicago's elegant North Shore district.
